JOHANN LIHER: „FLOWERS AND FASHION ARE A MIRROR OF BEAUTY”

* The world famous Netherland florist is on a visit in Bulgaria on the reference of the opening of center for flowers „Tilia”

Mr. Liher, you are here at the invitation of Mrs. Tania Georgieva on the reference of the opening of the new center for flowers „Tilia”. What is your first impression of Bulgaria?
In fact this isn’t my first visit in your country. I had come at the Black Sea on holyday with my family. Still then I liked Bulgaria. Now I’m for the first time in Sofia and I notice that people here are very kind and smiling.

How we can choose the most appropriate flowers for every occasion – birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and funerals?
Every client is individual. For funerals are used light flowers in white or pink. They don’t have to stream mourning, but clearness and vitality. For wedding the choice of flowers is very personal. The young couple has various preferences. But the classic are the red and the white roses.

Who do you learned from to arrange flowers?
I had studied in special school for arrangement in Amsterdam. There I understood the main rules in this profession – how to arrange the bouquet in this way that it will be balanced and it will have longer life etc.

Is there a relationship between the flowers and the fashion?
Of course, the relation between them is very strong. But unfortunately during the years they alienate the more and more. The truth is that both of them they are a mirror of the beauty.

Is it normal for one woman to give flowers to a man?
Why not if she loves him? The presentation of a bouquet is a gesture of respect and honor. In Netherland it is very often met the situation a woman to give flower to a man, but I have the feeling that here isn’t like this.

How you findthe exact accessoryand ornament for the flowers?
Everything is in my head. One table with zebra design can inspire me to do an arrangement with African motives. I inspire myself from whatever. The most important for one person is to have imagination.

Is there a fashion in the arrangement?
In the floral art there aren’t very strict tendencies. You can use all the things at every time, but the important is to have imagination.
