FRANCES LANTING: „TO BE EFFECTIVE AS A PHOTOGRAPHER YOU MUST BE ABLE TO LOSE YOURSELF“

Frans Lanting is considered one of the greatest nature photographers. His work has been featured in exhibitions, magazines and books around the world. For more than twenty years, he has documented the flora and fauna and the relationship between humans and nature from Antarctica to the Amazon. He is the winner of several awards as an environmentalist and photographer.
He made his debut working in Madagascar, documenting wildlife and tribal traditions that had never been filmed before. His photo essays on the ecology of Borneo's rainforests, emperor penguins in Antarctica, and the alarming fate of the blunt-billed gannet have been published around the world. Images from his year-long adventure to assess global biodiversity at the beginning of the millennium filled an issue of the world-renowned National Geographic magazine .
Winner of many prestigious photography awards such as "Wildlife Photographer 1991", "Ansel Adams 1997", Knight of the Royal Order of the Golden Ark by Prince Bernhard, awarded in 2001, and an award and medal from the Royal Geographical Society in 2010. In 2018, Frans Lanting was awarded the first Lifetime Achievement Award at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year ceremony held in London.
