PHOTOGRAPHER JOHN RANKIN RELEASES A NEW BOOK
British photographer John Rankin co-founded the Dazed & Confused Magazine, filmed for magazines such as Vogue and Rolling Stones and has worked with celebrities such as Heidi Klum, Gigi Hadid, Russell Crowe, Kate Moss and even Queen Elizabeth II. This year, the photographer celebrates 30 years since the start of his career. For this milestone, Rankin releases a new book of his own works in the field of fashion and pop culture, called "Unfashionable".
Edited by the photographer, this is the first retrospective of Rankin's entire career in fashion photography, including works dating back to his early provocative portraits in the late 1980s, the founding of Dazed & Confused and work on his latest editorial fashion platform - Hunger.
"I've been thinking about the concept for a few years before the “Unfashionable” idea took the form of a book. The deep meaning is that I realized it's been 30 years since I made my first "fashion" photo, but the fashion world has not always been my happy place. They often describe me as a celebrity photographer or portrait photographer, so this book is really a fashion holiday, but from my slightly outsider perspective. I can work in the field of fashion, but I have always been old-fashioned. ", Commented Rankin on his new book in an interview with Vogue India.
