THE PRESTIGIOUS GOLDEN NEEDLE 2019 FASHION AWARDS

The Academy of Fashion marked the 25 years’ jubilee with a glamorous and stylish ceremony and an impressive fashion show

The Academy of Fashion with President Prof. Lubomir Stoykov, handed out the Golden Needle 2019 annual awards. The most prestigious fashion award in Bulgaria was handed out on a fashion show and ceremony, which took place on the 13th March at Hotel Ramada Sofia.

Golden Needle 2019, which has a four century history, was awared to: Nevena Nikolova - Designer of the Year, Desizo Monni - Fashion House of the Year, received by Zornitsa Dimitrova (operating director of Desizo Monni Retail), Paloma Fashion with designer Polia Kinova - "Bridal Fashion", Radoslava Lazarova - "Best young designer", Axel Hardy - Fashion Innovation and Julia Angelova - "Fashion Makeup Artist".

In his speech at the opening of the evening Professor Stoykov said: "I hope that the Bulgarian designers will show us really beautiful, original and mixed creations tonight. I also hope that we will see messages that are swords that are divided into the ugly and the false.

The President of the Academy certified each of the winners and personally handed out the Golden Needle to Nevena Nikolova. Previous winners of the Golden Needle who were present at the award ceremony were: Vyara Georgieva, Antonia Yordanova and Kristina Bachvarova, Elena Zlateva, Hristo Chuchev, Kiril Chalakov and Nikolay Bozhilov. Mrs. Violina Marinova, Chief Executive Officer of DSK Bank, gave Radoslava Lazarova a certificate for a traditional special monetary prize of the bank in the category "Best Young Designer". Other participants in the ceremony were Mr. Miroslav Pechev - owner of Sofstock Ltd, official representative of Kimbo coffee for Bulgaria, Mrs. Olga Sandova - Executive Director of "Avtomotor Corporation", representative of Citroen for Bulgaria and Mrs. Mila Zaharieva - President of Business Lady Club.

The winners were nominated by an expert jury, including the most competent fashion and lifestyle journalists from the print and electronic media with Prof. Lubomir Stoykov. The next individual presentation of "Golden Needle 2019" includes an individual presentation specially created for the gala-spectacle of the Academy of Fashion. A famous Golden Needle statuette, made by an iconic Bulgarian jeweler - Angelo Krasini, the winners received gifts from partners of the court - MAC Cosmetics, Pixels wines and flowers from Mr. Garden.

First lady Mrs. Desislava Radeva respected the ceremony for the awarding of the Golden Needle 2019 Academy Awards and presented the name of the designer of the year Nevena Nikolova. Albena Petrova, Maria Kosheva, Julia Doncheva and Stanislav Nedkov, Kapka Amzina and Yavor Tsakov, Valeria Veleva with her granddaughter Valeria, Dr Hodor Fakih, Nikolay Mladjov, Sanya Borissova, Evgenia Kalkandjieva, Pavlina Kovacheva, Irina Papazova, designer – Jana Jekova, Mariela Gemisheva, Rositsa Rangelova, Teodora Spassova, Rositsa Stoycheva, Radi Ortseva, Tsveti Radoycheva, Madlena Ivanova, Malina Dimitrova, Eleonora Moncheva, Anna Stefanova, Yana Sredkova, Lina Carter and others.

Three-time winner of Golden Needle - Sofia Borisova, opened traditions with a fashion show before the ceremony with Attitude 2020 collection. Last year winner of the "Golden Needle" for bridal fashion - designer Hristo Chuchev showed his latest collection "Pink diamond".

Dressed by his dress, was also the host of the event - the charming Gery Doncheva. The collections are distinguished by: Banderol fashion house with designers Desislava and Nikola Karadamianovi, Antonia Stoyanova, IMANE fashion house designer, Dilyana Mateeva, Art.Look designer, Iva Gospodinova, Iv Style designer, Raikova fashionable furniture, as well as Sevi by Sevdalina with designer Sevdalina Dyakova, who presented a modern interpretation of hand-made turbans.

The annual awards ceremony ended with a cocktail, during which the guests could enjoy the Pixels wines and also the desserts from Nedelya.
